Awe Inspiring...Cliffs of Moher
Wow...that's all I can say! Just recently, I was so incredibly blessed to have not only a bucket list item be able to be checked off...but the bonus of checking off that item with our whole family involved. It has been a dream of my hubby and myself, to travel to Ireland and Scotland. Both of our families originated from those areas...when you go back far enough...and we've always wanted to travel there and see their beauty firsthand. We've long dreamed of taking all 3 of our daughters...as a family trip; and while they are grown and married, dating, etc....this dream still came true. Hubby, 3 daughters, one son in law, a daughters bf and myself....7 of us traveled to Ireland and Scotland for 11 days. Magical!! And having the "family" along, only made the trip all the better!
The whole family and "Juu-Dee"...in Killarney National Park
While this trip was definitely about family and adventure and the thrill of visiting 2 lovely countries....I did have some "beading" moments creep in along the way. That's the best thing about new sites and sounds.....they can be so inspiring! I checked out a bead store in Dublin...where of course I had to pick up one or two or twenty lovely Celtic inspired beads. I also took photographs of buildings and sites...who's architecture or beauty have definitely inspired the designer in me. I spent some time on a bus tour....as we traveled home and many slept...designing in my head and putting down notes into my phone, of ideas for jewelry, based off of all I had seen, fell in love with and marveled at. So much inspiration! I have decided that my new Fall Line will be items that this trip inspired and crafted into my brain. I bet you just can't wait to see how one of my fav experiences..."Hairy Coos"...ends up being jewelry inspiration?! Stay tuned!! lol
I learned a great deal on this trip, and while not the original intention....I know for certain that my beading world will grow....thanks to this adventure. You can't help but see new things, live a few days in another atmosphere and find joy in new experiences....and not have that impact the way you look at a new design, colour groupings, or the form and function of a piece. This was an unexpected bonus and joy from our trip. I hope you will enjoy how I bring the magic of the Emerald Isle and Scottish Highlands into my designs!...and if you get the chance to experience something new...even if it's just around the corner...do it. You won't ever regret or forget!
